Erin Makela

Author

I have been writing stories since my mom helped me write “Erin Visits the A, B, C’s” and “Erin in Number Land” in crayon on construction paper. Throughout elementary school, I wrote books about dinosaurs, King Arthur, and the Romanovs.

I didn’t always love to read on my own, but when I discovered biographies in 3rd grade, I became an avid reader. My fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Oakerlund, introduced me to K.A. (Katherine) Applegate’s Animorphs series, and then I was hooked on fiction. I quickly fell in love with Arthurian legends and Robin Hood – a perfect mesh of fantasy and history. I’ve been a reader and writer ever since.

I love traveling – to see where history happened, to try new things, and explore new places – and often I find my traveling inspires my writing. I also love seeing live theater – I will go see any musical and am a huge fan of Shakespeare’s history plays.

I currently write and teach middle school English/Language Arts in Worthington, MN.
